What is a Professional Organizer & What Do They Do?
Professional Organizers are individuals who create customized solutions to increase the efficiency of any home, office or individual. They assist people and organizations to improve their unique situations, as defined by their specific needs. Organizers are generally self-employed, and may subcontract or employ other Professional Organizers.
Professional Organizers help their clients to find balance, restore order and maximize their time and resources at home, office and workplace locations. Services vary widely, depending on the area or range of specialization. Services include, but are not limited to: -
Office organizing including needs analysis & action plans, decluttering & basic cleaning, filing systems, paper management, purchasing of office supplies & equipment, space planning, work flow, information & records management, paper flow, training & maintenance, moving/relocations, and storage areas.
- Residential organizing including closet design, space planning, garages/attics/basements, errands/personal shopping, housekeeping, storage solutions, cleaning, repairs & maintenance, decorating, renovations, interior design, collections/memorabilia/photographs, kitchens, garage sales and gifting.
- Public speaking, seminars and workshops, education & training, strategic planning, personal inventory process life management.
- Time management, personal coaching, goal setting; event/meeting planning & coordination.
- Industrial organizing including workplace assessments, audits, quality standards implementation (TQM, ISO, QS and SA Certification), health, safety, WSIB procedures.
- Writing including policy & procedures manuals; computer software & consulting; assessments & recommendations; resource & contact lists.
- Human resources consulting & coaching including job descriptions, orientation kits, employee manuals, training manuals, performance reviews, corporate values, general organization of staff.
- Working with specific groups (students, children, teenagers, seniors), special needs clients (Attention Deficit Disorder, brain injured) and the chronically disorganized.
