Organizing Tips!

Home Staging - Remember "Less is More". Accessories (nicknacks) and furniture can make a space look cluttered. Remove unnecessary pieces.

Pre-Move Organizing - Obtain a floor plan of your new home so that you can pre-arrange the position of all items, even everyday dishes.

Combining Households - Each member involved in the move (remember, even though your address may not change, there will be some moving involved) should complete a thorough organization of their existing residence. Once organization is complete, sit down and make a list of those items which are of the most value to you so that you are better able to place these items in your new home.

Entrance Ways - Assign a shelf or basket for each member of your household to put their; briefcase, laptop, knapsack, purse, etc. when they walk in the door. Also, everything that needs to be taken the next day can be placed there for a smooth and easy exit!

Kitchens & Pantries - Keep items used often within easy access.  Those items rarely used can be placed in the hard to reach places or in the basement, garage, storage area (in clearly marked boxes/containers). You may want to tape a list of these items (and their location) inside a cupboard door so you don't forget about them.

Bedrooms - Group items by season and/or category. Anything out of season gets put in lower drawers or at the back and sides of closets.

Children's Rooms - Use labelled or see through boxes/containers and extra drawers to hold items such as; toys, crafts, electronic devices, accessories (hair/make-up).

Garages & Basements - Group items by season and/or category. Those items rarely used can be placed in the hard to reach places (in clearly marked boxes/containers).

Home Offices - Make sure your space is comfortable (lighting, furniture,etc.).  Keep those items often used within easy reach.  Start and finish each day with a clear work area.
